Kobe: Chasing Steak and Waterfalls

Kobe: Chasing Steak and Waterfalls

Just 30 minutes from Osaka makes this the perfect day trip! Our visit was centered eating Kobe beef in Kobe, but there are definitely sights worth seeing.

For lunch, Ishida offers an unforgettable Kobe beef experience. Watch expert chefs prepare your meal at the teppanyaki table. The beef is sublime, served with perfect sides and seasonings.
Bonus: Bathroom offers toothpicks - brilliant. You’ll need one.

To walk off that scrumptious lunch:

  • Near Shin Nagata Station is Gigantor - a towering robot commemorating the area's recovery from the 1995 earthquake.

  • Ikuta Jinja | Dedicated to the goddess of fertility and possibly among the oldest shrines in the country.

  • Kitano Ijinkan-Gai | Neighborhood w/ European style houses built by foreign merchants and diplomats….maybe we didn’t do this one correctly but it was underwhelming.

  • Kobe Nunobiki Ropeway | I imagined a ropes course but it’s actually a cable car. We opted to hike instead but both options have their merits. It’s a peaceful climb and luckily it’s shaded because the day we went was hot, hot, hot. There are four or five waterfalls in all but we only visited Nunobiki and Tsutsumidaki.
Pro Tip: Public restrooms at the park were clean and well-appointed. A nice treat.

Back in town, stop at Sakeyashiro to cheers with some ice cold sake and relax after all that walking. Nice little day trip!
